Keynote Speaker – Jay Inslee

Jay Inslee

Jay is a native of Seattle, WA, who graduated with a BA in Economics from the University of Washington and a Masters in Law from Willamette University. He is a member of the Democratic Party and was recently in the U.S. House of Representatives for Washington’s 1st Congressional District. One of his main campaign themes is building a new economy for Washington. “I’m working to build an economy where good-paying jobs are created and provide hope to the middle class that their hard work once again really matters; an economy that rewards innovative, creative thinking; an economy that puts Washington State at the forefront of a clean energy revolution in job creation.”

View on Trade:  Jay Inslee has worked successfully to open up trade opportunities for Washington apples, and helped protect Boeing workers by writing the amendment that required a fair playing field with foreign competition for the recent Air Force tanker contract.

Both awards recognize locally-based companies that have contributed to the expansion of Washington State’s international trade through demonstrated success, industry leadership, innovation, and service to the community. In appreciation of the fact that business excellence comes in a variety of forms, the emerging trader of the year award specifically recognizes small to mid-size Washington State businesses for their contributions to the economy of Washington State.

This evening business reception will be hosted by the World Trade Club at Bell Harbor International Conference Center on Seattle’s beautiful downtown waterfront.
