Even as the U.S. manufacturing sector shows some signs of life, the recovery has been slow, and companies are looking for ways to grow their businesses and have begun to explore how to sell their products into foreign markets. But there is a lot you need to know before you can become a successful exporter:

    • Which foreign markets should I target?
    • How do I find a reputable distributor?
    • How do I assure that I will get paid?
    • How do I tackle documentation and compliance issues?

This workshop will give you the opportunity to get answers to these questions and more, and you will meet the people who are here locally to help you tackle these issues and become a successful exporter.

In July of 2009, the Obama Administration announced a new strategy in its fight against illegal immigration…to focus on the employer. So far, the number of government audits and fines against employers has increased ten-fold, and it is the stated strategy of the administration to continue with these efforts with the result being fines and, in some cases, jail time.

Several companies here in Washington have been subject to I.C.E. raids and inspections. In March alone, over seven employers across the country were subject to enforcement actions which resulted in jail time and arrests.

This half-day workshop from Impact Washington and New Vision is designed to give you all you need to know to have a defense against an I.C.E. raid so you will be in complete compliance with immigration and I-9’s. In this workshop, you will learn:

    1. What are the current legal requirements of employers regarding immigration and I-9’s. This includes a review of the NEW I-9 and important changes that you do not know about.2. How to correctly complete the I-9 and what are the most common errors. This alone can save you THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS in fines!3. How to conduct an internal audit.

Space is limited in this very important workshop. Reserve your spot today by clicking here, and gain the confidence that you have the knowledge to protect your company, reduce your fines and avoid severe penalties.

Family-owned and closely-held businesses endure or die out depending on how effectively they plan for the future. Do you have a succession plan in place to ensure future success of your business? Do you know all the factors that go into developing a successful business transition plan?

    • Organizational Planning
    • Strategic Planning
    • Succession Planning
    • Financial Planning

    • Exit Strategy Development

The afternoon session will discuss how to design and implement a successful business transition plan – the concepts, strategies and techniques, including:

    • Choice of Business Entity
    • Succession Options and Ownership Transfer Techniques
    • Governance and Management Options
    • Estate and Tax Planning Options and Strategies
    • Estate Equalization Techniques (how to treat children equally)
    • Income and Standard of Living Maintenance

Challenging economic times can cause confusion and concern about how to manage effectively and insure the sustainability of the company. Discover how family-owned and closely-held businesses can capitalize on their flexibility and responsiveness to weather the current economic storm.

The morning session is led by Lisë Stewart, managing partner of Galliard Group, a Boise (Idaho)-based consulting firm specializing in the issues facing family-owned and closely-held businesses.

The afternoon session is led by William C. Dudley, an attorney with the Vancouver law firm Landerholm, Memovich, Lansverk & Whitesides, P.S. Bill’s practice emphasizes business and corporate law, business taxation and estate planning for business owners. A major portion of the practice focuses on the formation of business entitites, business planning and the acquisition and sale of businesses. “Most people would be shocked to learn that less than 40 percent of businesses survive a transition to the second generation. The three most common causes are a lack of thoughtful planning, uninformed decision-making, and mismanaged communication within the family.”

  • How to Measure the Ongoing Effectiveness of Lean and Continuous Improvement – DATE CHANGE

WHEN: September 22, 8:00 am to 10:00 am
    WHERE: Everett
COST: $25 per person (includes discounted Eureka! Jump Start session at your company)
    To register, click here.

All attendees will receive the opportunity for a discounted daylong Eureka! Jump Start session at your company.

Most organizations that have invested in implementing Lean initiatives realize large gains, such as:

    • Cycle time reductions
    • Inventory reductions
    • On-time delivery improvement
    • Productivity improvement

But over time, in many organizations that implement Lean, the improvements do not continue once the initial Kaizen events are over. In some cases, things quickly go right back to how they were prior to the initial Lean effort.

This seminar will discuss the importance of leadership and culture in driving continuous improvement throughout your organization to create a systematic and lasting approach to operational improvement. You will also have the opportunity to see where your company is today and where you need to go to be globally competitive.

  • Unless the people involved and the culture are addressed early, Lean will only be successful 25-50% of the time. There are many potential barriers, and the challenge is to identify potential roadblocks and design an implementation to address them.

This one-day workshop addresses change management issues and how a strategic transitional approach will achieve a smooth change process.

Hoshin Planning is a strategic planning process that identifies and aligns all resources of the business to accomplish several major breakthrough objectives using a “catchball” process. It encourages all employees to analyze these objectives, create specific action plans for improvement, and conduct performance checks periodically. It focuses a company’s efforts on critical breakthrough issues impacting its success.

This all-day seminar will introduce attendees to the basic elements of a Hoshin plan. In addition, students will learn how key performance metrics are established to help determine the success or failure of company objectives.
