My Summer At Impact Washington – In Which This Becomes A Cooking Blog
To write a blog about validation rules and apex classes would not be a terribly fun thing. And I’d have to assume that reading it would be equally dull and boring.
As a result, this blog is being reformatted into a cooking blog with occasional snippets from my time in the office. After all, produce is a sector of manufacturing. My foray will of course be with regards to apples! Washington is the primary apple supplier of the United States after all. All apples references below are grown locally and can be purchased at your nearest market or grocer.
The Snack: Cinnamon Apple Slices
Suggested Apples: Red Delicious (personal favorite), Cripps Pink, Honeycrisp (catchall best apple).
- 2 Diced or sliced apples.
- 1 Teaspoons cinnamon.
- 2 ½ Teaspoons light brown sugar (less for sweeter apples).
- Slice/dice the apples to desired bite-sized pieces, place into large bowl.
- Combine cinnamon and brown sugar, utilize sieve if available.
- Slowly incorporate brown sugar cinnamon mix while tossing apples gently.
- Let sit in freezer for 5 – 15 min for ideal temperature and texture.
This is an incredibly short and easy to do recipe; I’m hesitant to even call it a recipe. The basis is of a crispy and not terribly sweet apple being broken down and tossed with seasonings for a quick treat. It is perfect for making a snack just before work or sending the kids to school. The flavor compliments snowy/rainy days primarily, however can easily be enjoyed anytime. This has been about as gentle an introduction to Washington cooking as a possible.
