Impact Washington Becomes Official Sponsor of the Women In Manufacturing Association (WiM) Washington Chapter

Monday, September 30, 2019 | News Release, Workforce Development

The Women in Manufacturing® Association (WiM) Washington Chapter today, announced that Impact Washington has signed on as an Official Sponsor of the newly formed Chapter.

The sponsorship supports the local Chapter and their ability to market and activate on a statewide level throughout the year, including at significant events, tradeshows, and much more.

“The partnership with Impact Washington is significant for the development of our Washington Women in Manufacturing Chapter,” said Rachel Camarillo, WiM Washington Chapter – Chair. “While we are starting with a strong presence here in the Seattle area, our long-term goal is to reach women in the manufacturing industry throughout the entire state. As Impact Washington continues to support manufacturers and provide meaningful training, consulting, and solutions, WiM can complement their mission by providing a supportive community that women in the industry need to participate in their company’s improvements, growth activities, and vice versa.”

The WiM Washington Chapter is committed to creating an active community of women who work in the manufacturing industry. These are women who help keep the wheels turning of some of the most innovative and coolest companies right here in our state. Some may not have the support they need to thrive in their current roles. Some need a safe place to seek advice or direction, and others require a nudge to get out of their comfort zone to dedicate time to keep their skills sharp. No matter the reason, the WiM Washington Chapter will provide value-added educational workshops throughout the year with social events sprinkled in to develop meaningful connections within the industry.

“As a leader for a small private manufacturing company, I know first-hand how hard it is to attract and retain talent to this industry and especially in this area,” said Rachel. “Our Chapter can help make a true “impact” with regards to workplace development by: 1. Creating a vibrant local WiM community 2. Helping to change the perception of the industry and the opportunities that exist within manufacturing from the shop floor up through the C-Suite – women belong everywhere, and 3. By strategically connecting students with women in the industry for potential internships and employment opportunities.”

“We are thrilled to support the WiM Washington Chapter and their commitment to supporting and accelerating women’s participation and leadership,” said  Deloit R. Wolfe Jr. President & Center Director, Impact Washington. “Women in Manufacturing® (WiM) is the only national trade association dedicated to providing year-round support to women who have chosen a career in the manufacturing industry. Our commitment to the WiM WA Chapter is meant to ensure that the ratio of women (who work in manufacturing) to men continues to grow. We also support promoting the leadership of women and expanding business growth by attracting and retaining a skilled workforce that reflects the demographics of the entire workforce in Washington State.”
