Impact Washington Receives WSMA Grant to Support Small & Micro Manufacturers

Tuesday, February 25, 2025 |

Impact Washington is proud to announce that it has been awarded a $20,000 grant by the Washington State Microenterprise Association, made possible through funding from the Washington State Department of Commerce. The grant is dedicated to supporting small and micro manufacturers - businesses with five or fewer employees - by providing training, technical assistance and access to financing.

As part of this WSMA-funded initiative, Impact Washington will host four training workshops designed to help small manufacturers streamline operations, align their business strategies and improve overall efficiency.

“This is an excellent opportunity for small manufacturers to get in front of industry experts and connect with their peers. The Business Strategy and Lean 101 trainings are dynamic and fun workshops that allow participants to learn while having fun, which also helps them retain more information.”, shared Miguel Moreno, Account Executive for Small and Rural Business. “Business owners will be surrounded by peers providing a platform to share challenges and collaborate on solutions. It’s a unique opportunity that brings together learning, networking and problem solving to drive growth and efficiency.”

“We are honored to receive this grant from WSMA, which will enable us to support small manufactures through targeted workshops. At Impact Washington, our mission is to empower businesses with the knowledge and tools they need to drive efficiency, innovation, and long-term success.”, shared Kelley Sowards, President & Center Director. “These workshops will provide an invaluable opportunity for manufacturers to engage with industry experts, collaborate with peers, and gain practical insights that enhance their operations and competitiveness.”

To maximize impact, Impact Washington is collaborating with key ecosystem partners to host these workshops - Economic Development Alliance of Skagit County (EDASC), Skagit Valley College, PublicDisplay.ART, Seattle Good Business NetworkTri-City Development Council (TRIDEC) and EDC Team Jefferson. We deeply appreciate their contributions, as their collaboration and resources are essential in reaching and transforming small businesses through these workshops.

As part of the grant-funded workshops, businesses gain access to the Impact WA growth cycle. Participants can take a no-cost business evaluation before or after the session, apply for the Small Manufacturers Growth grant (subject to limited funding), and become a part of the comprehensive support network designed to drive success.

Learn more about the workshops and how to participate here. The workshops are scheduled to run all through April across Washington state. The grant subsidizes the workshop costs, making these sessions affordable for small manufacturers looking to strengthen their businesses.
