While any day can be manufacturing day, the official Manufacturing Day is coming soon on Friday, October 7, 2016.
What is Manufacturing Day?
MFG DAY addresses common misperceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is — and what it isn’t. By working together during and after MFG DAY, manufacturers will begin to address the skilled labor shortage they face, connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry.
So how can you or your company get involved? Here are a few ideas:
1. Host an Event
If you’re interested in hosting an event, check out MFG Day’s website for several resources to help with your planning, including guides, tool kits, logos, marketing flyers, and more. By hosting an event, you can showcase the fantastic work your company is doing and educate students, the community, and policymakers on how integral manufacturing is to our economy. You could also consider teaming up with other manufacturers in your area to host a larger-scale event such as a job or educational fair.
Examples of MFG Day Events:
- Plant tours
- Manufacturing community events and expos
- Job fairs
- Educational fairs
- Celebrations of the manufacturing community
2. Attend an Event
You don’t have to host an event to participate. There are 1,234 MFG Day events planned in 2016. Search for an MFG Day event here and attend one in your area.
3. Get Your Story Out There
You might already be doing things to participate! If you have a company blog or are active on social media, consider sharing YOUR story. How has manufacturing impacted your life, your career, and your company? How did you get where you are? You never know who you will inspire. If you need help getting started, this “Share Your Story” resource will get you going in the right direction.
